Pedal ForWORDS II: A Dystopian-Themed Bike Race
Athleticism and literary knowledge might seem like a strange combination of skills, but both will be necessary at Pedal ForWORDS II, a book-friendly alleycat race put on by the nonprofit shop Boneshaker Books. This year's event, which also functions as the grand finale of June's 30 Days of Reading challenge, will have a dystopia theme, so participants are invited to dress in their bleakest futuristic looks for the chance to win prizes for the best costume. Along the route are stops where folks will be tested on their bookish trivia knowledge, asked to solve puzzles, and do some guerilla gardening. Prizes will be awarded to the top three racers, as well as whoever comes in dead last. The event will conclude with music, games, and libations at the bookstore. Pre-register at boneshakerbooks.com.
