Paul Cebar Tomorrow Sound
It's been way too long since Milwaukeean and Twin Cities fave Paul Cebar issued a new disc. But Fine Rude Thing hit the streets in January while the band hit the road to stir up the pot. The fresh collection's irresistible mélange of rhythms promises to pack the dance floor while tickling the old gray cells with sneaky melodies and crafty lyrics that reflect Cebar's vast array of influences. That includes a major dose of classic New Orleansiana, soul out of Memphis and Detroit, sweet rock 'n' roll, R&B of all stripes, jump blues, and a sweep of sounds from Havana through Rio and back to Africa. Thus FRT kicks off with its raucous title track and makes dozens of fascinating stops before concluding with the sunny ska of "Like Loving People Do."
