Out There 2014: The Room Nobody Knows
Given that Japanese director Kuro Tanino's last gig was as a psychotherapist, it's no surprise that The Room Nobody Knows, the latest bit of weirdness brought to you by Out There 2014, delves deep into the psyche and the subconscious. For the performance, the set will be in miniature, though the actors will not. Audiences will watch as two brothers inexplicably wedge themselves into tiny compartments where they interact in ways that are both comical and uncomfortable. There will be plenty of plastic heads, phallic furniture, and hidden discoveries among the claustrophobia. And since this piece wades deep into the human psyche, expect plenty of psychoanalytical humor and revelations to be had. Due to the tininess of the set, seating will be very limited, and the show will be presented in Japanese with English subtitles. (Photo by Shinsuke Suginou)
