Can the ordinary things that people come across in everyday life make extraordinary artistic subjects? We think so, and so does the Weisman Museum. In "Ordinarily Here," the 10 participating artists were invited to draw inspiration from topics, items, occurrences, and concepts typically viewed as mundane. The resulting pieces range from intriguing to touching to highly amusing. Artists featured include Jenny Jenkins, who captures graffiti tags from her neighborhood in embroidery; Vince Leo, whose typos working at a cube-farm job find their way into his installation pieces; and Adam Caillier, who rearranges his and other people's personal effects to create sculptures that he then photographs. The show is a mix of office detritus, found objects, and perhaps even a little table tennis. The preview party/opening reception is this Friday, June 18, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (Artwork by Jenny Jenkins)
