Open Mic Night

If you think you're funny because your co-workers feign laughter at the little jokes and puns you dispense at the water cooler, please think again. If you're convinced you're a comic tour de force because drunk people at parties giggle at you and tell you you're funny, please consider the source before you get an inflated sense of your comedic mastery. But if people often laugh at things you say, and you're thick-skinned enough to laugh at yourself, can weather boos from a belligerent audience, and are willing to work on your material before proclaiming yourself to be the second coming of Jerry Seinfeld, Richard Pryor, or George Carlin, please get your ass onstage at Acme Comedy Co.'s weekly open mic. Like all open stages at comedy clubs, Acme's draws both well-established local laugh getters and unfunny wannabes who threaten to tarnish Acme's sterling national reputation. But the important thing is that whether you end up laughing with or at the brave souls who step onstage, you'll be laughing. 18+.
Mondays, 8 p.m.; Mondays, 8 p.m. Starts: April 6. Continues through May 18, 2009
