Objects for Consideration
Chris Larson (of Northern Spark's burning Breuer house) and Chris Groth (of Automatons and the Penfolds Ampule Project) co-curated this show of the simple, everyday objects that inspire the artists who submitted them. The challenge, and fun, will be matching the likes of Kate Casanova, Ruben Nusz, Scott Stulen, Diane Willow, and John Fleischer with such items as a piece of fruit, knob of wood, rounds of felt, and bit of metal, and then, of course, conjecturing as to why and how said object influences that artist's work. Down that rabbit hole of reference and reminder we'll find our curiosity piqued and the artistic process parsed. There will be an opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, February 8. "House Party," featuring new paintings by Eric Syvertson, will also be opening and on display at SooVAC. (Pictured: An object from Kristy Childress)
Wednesdays-Sundays. Starts: Feb. 8. Continues through March 22, 2014
