Nutcracker: The Lost Act
This season, Ballet of the Dolls is pairing up with Le Cirque Rouge burlesque troupe for an all-new, adults-only sequel to the classic Nutcracker tale. According to Michael Romens, the Dolls' managing director, Nutcracker:The Lost Act starts where the original story left off: Marie gets hit by a car and heads into a dream world. Of course, the burlesque aspect of the show won't be your standard fan dance or feather boa fare. Instead, there's "Queenie Von Curves spinning fire tassels, Missy Fanny May doing a rat-to-woman transformation, Buttercup Flowers as a tap dancing/sparkler twirling patriot, and sexy poetry, all accompanied by our band and singers," says Amy Buchanan, producer/director of Le Cirque Rouge.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m.; Wednesdays, Thursdays, 7:30 p.m. Starts: Dec. 9. Continues through Dec. 31, 2011
