Daily from June 11-12
This Saturday, revelers will stay up all night for Northern Spark, a citywide celebration that features pop-up art installations, performances, activities, education, food, and more from 9 p.m. to about 6 a.m. This year's event will explore the impact of climate change, from tiny pollinators like bees disappearing to the giant melting glaciers. Happenings include Minnesota Ice, where a state fair concession stand from the future will swap items with guests; the Night Library, which again will offer puzzles, theater, and storytelling; and Barebones' "Illuminated Reef," which should be as colorful as an aquarium. The opening ceremony at Minneapolis Convention Center Plaza features a performance by Helado Negro, and remarks from Mayor Betsy Hodges.
