Northeast Pedal Pub Races
Racing Pedal Pubs might seem a bit counter-intuitive. The slow-moving trolleys move at a glacial pace, after all. But you don't necessarily need high speed to have a nail-biter of a race. For those unfamiliar with the boozy mode of transportation, Pedal Pubs are slow-moving bicycle/pub contraptions driven by an always sober tour leader. Riders drink beer or non-alcoholic beverages while pedaling to help move things along. This Sunday, things will get competitive as teams of eight to ten people (with at least four ladies on each team) will try to move as quickly as possible from First Avenue Northeast to East Hennepin and back again. Racers are encouraged to wear costumes, work in a theme, and get into team spirit. During the day, both racers and spectators are invited to enjoy live music, food from Chef Shack, and New Belgium beer. Register at www.northeastminneapolis.com/pedal-pub-race. 18+.
