Nicholas de Villiers
This Friday, queer theorist Nicholas de Villiers, author of Opacity and the Closet: Queer Tactics in Foucault, Barthes, and Warhol (University of Minnesota Press), will give a free lecture at Boneshaker Books. The talk is in coordination with Broc Blegen's "Coming Out Party," now on view in the MAEP Galleries at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. On Thursday at 7 p.m., de Villiers will be on hand at the MIA to discuss Blegen's work in relation to his own research on Warhol, queer performativity, and excitable speech. The following day's event at Boneshaker will focus on archiving history and the development of queer identities through art and theory. It will include a multimedia presentation and conversation, as well as snacks.
