New Year's Eve Neighborhood Party

Not interested in trekking to the other side of town for a party out of your price range? Two nearby bars are inviting neighbors to celebrate together for free this New Year's Eve. Memory Lanes' (2520 26th Ave. S., Minneapolis; 612.721.6211) event features headliners Al's Rockabilly Trio, plus thrash and garage sounds from the Violent Shifters, and old school burlesque with Mustache Jim & the Straight Razors. The evening will also include DJ sets from Maid Rite. If you're looking to do some bowling at the party, call ahead and reserve a lane for $69.99, which gets you shoes, pizza, pop, a champagne toast, and party favors for up to six people. Across the street at the Hexagon Bar (2600 27th Ave. S., Minneapolis; 612.722.3454), barhoppers can enjoy performances from psychobilly group Sex Rays, and rockers Reckless Ones, Person Hurter, and Pennyroyal. Partiers are welcome to hop between bars and enjoy both free shows.
