New Year's Eve Extravaganza

"I'm kind of selective with where I like to do New Year's Eve," says comedian Isaac Witty. "I have a lot of friends around Minneapolis, and the Joke Joint is a good club. I've done some real lousy New Year's Eve events." Witty does enjoy the New Year's crowd, though. "Just being around a bunch of people that typically aren't partying as hard as they do that particular night. It's the one night where everybody goes insane, and I go insane with them." The Tulsa native has spent a lot of time in the Twin Cities, a decade to be precise. He recently moved back to Oklahoma, but soon will head out to Los Angeles to pursue comedy writing. "I almost got a job on Gary Unmarried, but the creator of the show and the show runner both got fired, so everything fell through." He will also continue to perform standup in L.A, which will give him more opportunities to try out new bits and rework older ones. "I find that just naturally the older stuff falls off over the course of a couple of years," he notes. "Even when you feel like you haven't written a lot, you look and realize, 'Hey, I have all these jokes.'" For a sampling of his canon, fans can check out his new CD, Zero Balance, which was released this past month. Also with Miss Shannan Paul.
