Movember Benefit Art Show
While November will always be best known for Thanksgiving, another holiday is starting to gain steam. Much like Oktoberfest, Movember is a month-long celebration involving barhopping, camaraderie, and special events at a variety of locations. During this time, men are invited to grow a mustache as mighty as possible. But this isn't merely a festival of aesthetics. The holiday, which began in Australia and is now honored worldwide, aims to playfully raise funds for men's health organizations, particularly groups that specialize in cancers prevalent in males. For this benefit party at Pink Hobo Geek Art Gallery, over a dozen artists were invited to create works inspired by facial hair. Participants include Jaime Carrera, Vincent Stall, and Jennifer Davis, as well as art groups such as Aesthetic Apparatus and Burlesque of North America. Guests at the party will be able to bid on the 'stache-themed art that calls to them the most during the silent auction. All proceeds will go toward the Movember Foundation. Facial hair at this shindig is optional, but highly encouraged (and awesome). (Art by Dan Monick)
