Morphologies: Queer Performance Festival
Pangea World Theater, 20% Theatre Company, and RARE Productions are coming together to present Morphologies: Queer Performance Festival, an event boasting workshops, panel discussions, and six shows at locations including Intermedia Arts, Ritz Theater, and Pangea World Theater Studio. Things kick off on Friday with a production of Becoming a Man in 127 EASY Steps, a "choose your own adventure" solo performance by Alaskan trans artist Scott Turner Schofield about life after switching genders. Schofield will also lead two workshops at Pangea the next day at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., followed by a 3:30 p.m. panel discussion. The festival continues through the following weekend with solo shows such as In Search of Geishaghost by Ryka Aoki de la Cruz, D'FunQT by D'Lo, Shaking Our Shells: Stories from on the Wings of Wadaduga by Qwo-Li Driskill, and Outside the Circle, a play by Andrea Assaf and Samuel Valdez about a queer woman and a man with cerebral palsy who meet by chance in a seedy bar in Tijuana and share their stories about love and living outside of society. There will also be numerous other workshops and events throughout the week. For a full schedule, visit pangeaworldtheater.org or tctwentypercent.org.
