MNFashion Week: Vintage Did It First: Looks That Inspire Fall's Runway
It happens often: Someone at a runway show will mutter something about how some other designer already worked that style back in 1996. Blacklist Vintage is about to prove that it's all happened way before with their upcoming event, Vintage Did It First: Looks That Inspire Fall's Runway. For years designers have put old fashions through the proverbial washer, spin-cycling garments onto the runway just a little fresher than their previous incarnations in efforts to pass them off as completely original. The designers for this show, however, embrace classic retro styles with a few modern enhancements to prove that fashionable pieces from 40 years ago are still as stylish as ever today. The runway show will juxtapose original vintage pieces and their corresponding designer pieces fresh off the autumn catwalk from Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and others. Sip on drinks and nibble on hors d'oeuvres during the free event while browsing through racks of carefully chosen vintage pieces from 1920 to 1980. The retro boutique has something for everyone with both men's and women's clothing, accessories, furniture, and vinyl records. Blacklist Vintage, a perennial favorite among fashion mavens and local press, will be offering a 10 percent discount to shoppers during the event. (Photo by Stacy Schwartz)
