MNFashion Week: The Shows
The Shows, which is one of the few events of MNFashion Week that is directly produced by the organization, features three local designers at the top of their game. Kimberly Jurek of KJurek creates clothing for women that fuses romantic textiles and girly details with modern cuts. Emma Berg's latest collection, Que Sera Sera, draws inspiration from the colorful works of Frank Gaard, who is currently exhibiting a retrospective at Walker Art Center. Berg's gowns, dresses, and separates have a certain primness, but manage to avoid stuffiness through unlikely fabric and color combos. Amanda Christine's bold pieces can make any fashionista look like a bad-ass rockstar, whether she is partying at First Avenue or sipping champagne at La Belle Vie. Finally, KR Designs Jewelry, recently seen at Cliche's Avoid the Grey, create statement pieces by merging modern, vintage, and exotic elements. Tickets sell out fast, so buy yours early.
