MNFashion Week: SCENEaSOTA

SCENEaSOTA is not just a clever name; the show is a compilation of Minnesota's art, fashion, and music scenes put on by artists, for artists. Now in its second year, the event is sharpening production and adding loads of local talent to the lineup. Produced by Maritza Ramirez, the happening was originally conceived among friends who wanted to create an MNFashion Week show based on their love of local talent. As such, the party has a friendly, relaxed vibe that fits the Warehouse District venue perfectly. Returning designers include Renate Adjei, Jenny Carle, and Carmichael Claith. New to the show this year are local designers Ashley Busch, who incorporates modern twists into 1970s silhouettes, and Kathryn Sterner, who designs looks inspired by American Indian culture. A brilliant addition to the lineup this year is local Minneapolis art curator Emma Berg, who will debut her first collection at the show. This evening of fashion also features Ignite Models, styling by Angie Hanson of Hautepants, and music by DJ Real Talk Radio. The highly anticipated runway show begins promptly at 8:30 p.m., so get there early to snag a seat. If you're worried about the event selling out (which it did last year), you can pick up pre-show tickets at Cliché. (photo by Stephanie Hynes Photography)
