MN Opera: Faust
Hella good noise is being thrown down at the Minnesota Opera this week. Faust opens the opera's season, and as usual there's a world-class cast, amazing production, and a compelling score that has endured for a damn good reason. The kicker is the choreography by Doug Varone. Feathers in his cap include two Bessies, an Obie, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and being selected as the critics' pick for Dance in America: Wolf Trap's Face of America, which you may have caught on PBS recently. Maybe not; we hope you're too busy supporting live theater to watch TV. But even if that's expecting too much, we want you to know: Catching this show scores you bragging rights that will impress even PBS telethon operators. Also of note: The Minnesota Opera posts plots, cast lists, and background information on its website. Browse it before you go for all you need to know.
