MN Fashion Week: Voltage: Fashion Amplified
Even if you had no clue that April 16 through April 26 was MN Fashion Week, you'd have to be living under a rock for Voltage: Fashion Amplified not to be on your radar. Held annually, Voltage dominates the Twin Cities fashion scene as the most energetic and anticipated event of the year, churning out talented designers left and right. This is the party that doesn't half-ass anything; it's a full-blown rock show with an unforgettable runway experience that always draws a crowd. Tonight's lineup of local bands will be Caroline Smith and the Goodnight Sleeps, Red Pens, Mayda, Blue Sky Blackout, and Ruby Isle. During each musical set bands show their flair for fashion with theatrical looks by designers and stylists like Laura Fulk, Ashley Wokash and Lucy Kandler (Calpurnia Peach), and Kerry Riley (Red Shoe Clothing Co.). Runway models also stride down the catwalk in the center of the venue, showcasing the night's theme of warm-weather style. This year's runway designers include art maven Emma Berg, knit king Kevin Kramp, and fashion vet PTF Couture, partnered with local accessory designers such as Robin Robinson (ROX) and Anna Lee (Ruby3), creating head-to-toe original looks that embody the metro area's progressive fashion community.
