Minnesota Dance Theatre: Carmina Burana
According to the press release, this evening of music and dance promises to be "a portrayal of love and lust, desire and longing, with raucous and bawdy good fun." Sounds about right; the original text is a mix of religious satire, love songs, and drinking games, after all. And it's good to get the bawdiness out of our systems before the onslaught of Christmastime Nutcrackers pirouette their way across Minnesota. This spin on Carmina Burana, a revival of founder Loyce Houlton's original masterpiece, will feature energetic performances by the Minnesota Dance Theatre, directed by Lise Houlton with Dominique Serrand. The Minnesota Chorale will provide the soundtrack, featuring vocalists Bradley Greenwald, Justin Madel, and Jennifer Baldwin-Peden. (Photo by Erik Saulitis)
