Minneapolis-St. Paul Fashion Week: Red Dress Collection
Red Dress Collection, sponsored by MNFashion and the University of Minnesota's Physicians Heart at Fairview, pairs 15 local designers with 15 influential women. Each designer is then tasked with creating a red dress for a high-fashion runway show. "The level of creativity, quality, and commitment our local designers possess never ceases to amaze me," says Carly Aplin, director of Red Dress Collection. "We feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to give guests a glimpse of our 15 designers. The models who graciously donated their time to Red Dress are some of the most visible, fashion-forward, and influential women in the Twin Cities. The fact that we have 15 of them rockin' the runway is unbelievable." In addition to the fashion show, guests will hear from survivors of heart disease about how women can protect their hearts. "Heart disease continues to be the number-one killer of women," Aplin says. "That's why we brought Red Dress Collection to Minnesota: to bring together incredibly talented designers with influential women to raise awareness for women's heart health." Revelers will be invited to browse pop-up shops by Aromi, realia by jen, and the Elixery; participate in a silent auction; and enjoy appetizers and treats by Raspberry Bird. This is "the only event where you can see over a dozen couture dresses from our most talented designers worn by the Twin Cities' most high-profile women," Aplin says. "It's truly a one-of-a-kind event." Proceeds from the celebration are donated to Go Red for Women. For more info, visit www.RedDressMN.com.
