Mill City Oktoberfest
Does Oktoberfest come at the tail end of summer in order to lessen the pain from our realization that we are fast approaching the winter months? At this daylong celebration of brew traditions both local and global, folks will be able to enjoy beer season with activities held indoors, in the Mill Ruins Courtyard, and at the farmers' market. Chat with Minnesota craft brewers about local pints, and sample some varieties that you have never tried (or try old favorites again). Kramarczuk's Sausage Co. will be hosting German cooking demonstrations led by Heather Hartman. Indoors in the Baking Lab, guests will be invited to watch the production of European baked goods. Fans of Minnesota breweriana—collectable beer items including steins, signage, and promotional posters—will want to check out special items on display from the North Star Chapter of the American Breweriana Association. Be sure to spend some time in the beer garden, and stop to take in entertainment by the Elk River German Band, the Bavarian Musikmeisters, and the S.G. Edelweiss Dancers.
Sat., Sept. 24, 8 a.m.-2 p.m., 2011
