Mike E. Winfield

"I feel like in this business you keep plugging away. And then something sticks, and that's what people remember you for," says comedian Mike E. Winfield. While he's a popular headlining comedian who packs clubs across the country, he also has several other gigs. He hosts the video-clip show Offbeat on Fuse, is working on a pilot for MTV, and has two sitcom pilots on the market. Some folks may recognize him from The Office, a role he jokes about onstage. "This is the last season, and I haven't done anything this year," he says. "When people say they don't recognize me from that show I say, 'You've got to look close. It's like a black Where's Waldo?' I'm down in the warehouse. If they go downstairs, I'm there." Winfield, who has been comfortable onstage from the very beginning of his career, feels like he's reached a new level in his comedy. "There was a point when I went up and thought, 'I hope this is funny.' Now it seems like I'm dictating how I want my shows to go. I'm becoming more of a comic where people say, 'He's the guy who gears towards relationships.'" For inspiration, he only has to look at his own life. "It's like a philosophy of why things happen," he explains. "In a conversation, women are ahead of us by four steps. One of my points is she should stop sending me to the grocery store, or she's just going to get upset about me forgetting stuff. She knew that was going to happen anyway." 18+.
