Thanksgivings are different now for Michael Thorne. The Twin Cities standup veteran, who has performed with luminaries like Bill Hicks as well as his old pal Mitch Hedberg over the course of a 20-year comedy career that's seen him tell jokes just about anywhere jokes can be told, settled down a few years back and now has a wife and two young daughters. Prior to that, he was a true road warrior. Recalling one Turkey Day he spent in Buffalo, New York: "It was actually kind of nice — I got to see what Thanksgiving was like in a functional family," he quips. "They had good food, everybody was conscious, it was great." Thorne's offstage domesticity hasn't curbed his onstage wildness, however, and now his high-energy act focuses significantly on the perils of his gleefully irresponsible youth and his transition into family man. It's an ideal show for the holiday weekend, and this weekend, Thorne adds, is ideal for a dose of comedy: "We don't have to work tomorrow, and yet we have to spend time with relatives." $12.50. 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and Friday; 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
Wed., Nov. 24, 8:30 p.m.; Fri., Nov. 26, 8:30 p.m.; Sat., Nov. 27, 8 & 10:30 p.m., 2010
