Michael Che

Michael Che went to his first open mic in 2010. Since then, he has quickly become one of the hottest young comics in the country. He accomplished this by relentlessly doing shows seven days a week in New York, running from club to club each evening. He tries to perform at two different venues a night, but often makes it to even more than that. Che was raised on the city's Lower East Side, and he still calls the Big Apple home. "I live in a gentrified neighborhood," he tells an audience. "If you don't know what 'gentrified' means, it means when a bunch of white people move to a messed up neighborhood, and then open up cupcake stores everywhere." Somehow Che has found the time to star in a web series, The Realest Candidate, produced by Lorne Michaels's production company. On the program he plays a Republican strategist, but his own politics appear to be more middle-of-the-road. "Liberal audiences are sometimes more conservative than conservative audiences," he notes. "Liberal people get offended on behalf of people who aren't even at the show." He does support gay marriage, rejecting the "slippery slope" argument that people use, which reasons that if gay people get married, then people will want to marry animals. "Hey man, I eat animals. If you want to marry one, that's your business. I'm pretty sure I'm doing the worst thing to it." 18+; 21+ later shows.
