Cover acts in town are a dime a dozen, and bands who add novelty act to their description are usually short lived. Yet somehow Metallagher has managed to thrive when it could easily have morphed into a vague memory from a night of heavy drinking. This is most likely because the act manages to walk a razor-fine line between reverence and humor, homage and parody. That's an odd combination of things, and it even more odd when you consider that we're talking about a band that weaves odes to '80s/'90s heavy metal with Gallagher's very dated brand of standup comedy. But perhaps this is part of the charm, as audiences are taken back to a time before performer went on his infamous racist rant, before Metallica stood up to online pirating, and back when we actually wanted Guns N' Roses' Axl Rose to release Chinese Democracy. Plus, while getting beer sloshed on your clothes is a pretty standard occurrence in the bar scene, how often do you get slammed with watermelon? Tonight's performance includes a set from Reptile Christ. 21+.
