Meal Ticket: A Winter Feast and Benefit Reading
Ever watched the Food Network on an empty stomach? Or read a restaurant review on the bus home before dinner? How about grocery-shopping while really, really hungry? If you have, then you probably know the sheer torture of being around food, thinking about food, or watching food preparation while not being able to nosh on something. That is why this evening is the perfect combination of consumption and art. This Saturday at Butter Café in Uptown, Twin Cities writers, poets, and essayists will read food-themed stories and poems in hopes of making mouths water. But fear not—there will be plenty for your taste buds to enjoy as well. On the menu are Italian cheeses, Moroccan tagines (a slow-cooked stew made in a special pot), drinks, and tasty chocolate treats. All funds raised will go toward those who face real hunger: Proceeds benefit the Minnesota Emergency Food Shelf Network.
