MCBA SpringCon Comic Book Convention
Two weekends ago, Wizard World Comic Con came to the Twin Cities. The party certainly was a blast, but it wasn't the first of its kind in Minnesota. For the past 25 years, MCBA has hosted its SpringCon Comic Book Convention, much to the delight of comic-book fans and lovers of local shops. This weekend, folks can chat with comic artists, shop from local vendors, and celebrate Twin Cities geekery at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. Another bonus for those with shallow wallets: Admission is only $12, and parking is free. At this year's event, over 250 cartoonists will be on hand, including kids' artists, graphic novelists, trading-card artists, pinup artists, and folks from Lutefisk Sushi, the ongoing Minnesota comic anthology series that publishes about every year. The dealers' floor will feature local book shops, comic distributors, collectible items, and more. Got a great getup? Enter the costume contest for a chance to win prizes, or just show up in your gear and be part of the ambiance. For more info, visit www.midwestcomicbook.com. (Photo by Joe Rider)
