MarsCon: Rockin' the Apocalypse
According to ancient Mayans, the world is set to end on December 12 of this year. So this could be the last MarsCon ever. The folks behind the volunteer-run, weekend-long party aren't worried about this, though, as the apocalypse opens up the slight possibility of zombie cows in our near future. During the three-day celebration, revelers will be able to get their geek on regardless of their fandom with gaming sessions, art on display, lectures, and vendor shopping. Guests of note this year include actress Denise Crosby (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Mad Men, The X-Files), sci-fi author Catherine Asaro, and local cartoonist Jon Sloan. Come dressed as your favorite fictional character, or take in a few talks on how to bring your cosplay up to the next level. This new information may come in handy, as Saturday night's Masquerade Ball features a costume contest in addition to being a lively dance party.
