This Saturday, Public Functionary opens its fourth season with a new show featuring works by Mark Schoening. For "Shape Shifter," the Minneapolis-based artist explores the world of digital information and how technology impacts his approach to painting through creating objects grounded in reality. That includes laser-cut tessellating puzzle pieces, paintings with repeating patterns that overstimulate the eye, and wooden boxes representing stored data. There will be an opening reception from 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday, April 23.
