It turns out world-renowned Swedish chef Magnus Nilsson has other talents besides his mastery in the kitchen. Nilsson is the head chef at the Fäviken Magasinet, a premier restaurant known for featuring local ingredients. This week, he shows off what he can do with a camera at the American Swedish Institute. The show includes original photography taken by Nilsson while researching The Nordic Cookbook. In the images are people he has encountered during his travels around the Nordic region while examining Nordic food culture and unearthing the secrets of Nordic ingredients. On display will also be 10 photographs of the Fäviken restaurant by Minnesota photographer Cameron Wittig, accompanied by text written by Swedish journalist Po Tidholm. Visitors can view the works during regular museum hours, or check them out as ASI hosts numerous opening-week events, including an exhibition preview party on Wednesday, June 1 ($35, 7 to 10 p.m.), and a book signing event with Nilsson on Saturday.
