Stacia Rice has played a number of heart-warming female leads in recent memory (Jane Eyre at the Guthrie, Anne Sullivan in Torch's The Miracle Worker), but this fall she threatens to trample all of that goodwill as original mean queen Lady Macbeth. She'll perform opposite Sean Haberle (Rochester in Jane Eyre, so the balance of power between the two onstage might shift a fraction). With David Mann directing, this should be Shakespeare with authority, and the Scottish play done right is a harrowing exercise in power, murder, the supernatural, and the costs of unchecked ambition.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 7:30 p.m.; Sundays, 3 p.m.; Mon., Oct. 20, 7:30 p.m. Starts: Oct. 10. Continues through Oct. 26, 2008
