Lydia Lunch: Hangover Hotel

"I'm nihilistic, antagonistic, violent, horrible, but not obliterated, yet." So says Lydia Lunch, founding member of Teenage Jesus and the Jerks and onetime denizen of the New York City anti-everything No Wave scene. Named by the Boston Pheonix as "one of the 10 most influential performers of the '90s," Lunch is certainly not obliterated yet in spite of having left New York for Barcelona in 2003. She brings her spoken-word poetry, music, and photography to the Soo Visual Arts Center in a performance that, assuming it follows her previous modus operandi, will be confrontational, textural, and, at moments, violent. If another Lunch quote is any indication, it should be one dark performance: "There're enough happy assholes out there, why should I be another one in the line?"
