Louisa Greenstock: A Woman's Place
Though the best place for women has yet to be determined, artist Louisa Greenstock certainly has a sense of humor about some people's suggestions. Her current exhibition features a painting of what appears to be a housewife smiling while eating a pie filled with black crows. Born and raised in England, the artist later relocated to New York City, where she soon began exhibiting her hyper-colored oil paintings. Considered to be firmly influenced by the lowbrow or pop surrealist art movement, she was recently featured in Sherri Cullison's Vicious, Delicious, and Ambitious, a book highlighting the top 20 women working in the genre today.
