Louie Anderson

It's no overstatement to deem Louie Anderson a pioneer. Years before the early-'80s comedy boom was in full force, Anderson — alongside fellow comics Scott Hansen, Alex Cole, and the late "Wild" Bill Bauer — began performing at Mickey Finn's, the first bar in town to host standup nights. After 30 years, three books, and numerous television credits (including a hosting stint on Family Feud), Anderson hasn't lost any of that creative momentum. Through regularly performing at clubs and theaters across the country, Anderson continues to rifle through all the sordid details of his personal life, turning some of the most grim subject matter — a recent angioplasty being one of them — into his most hysterical material. It's what every comic should strive for, and for a seasoned veteran like Anderson, this has always been one of his strong suits.
