Los Lobos / Los Lonely Boys
The members of Los Lobos (pictured) are marking their 40th anniversary as a band this year. Never complacent, they have constantly experimented with their potent brew of traditional Mexican music, blues, rock 'n' roll, R&B, folk, and country, one of many high points being 1992's Kiko, last year re-released with re-mastered and live versions. Over the years the quintet have continued to hone their songwriting and musical chops, often creating transcendent music that definitively answers the question posed by the early album title, How Will the Wolf Survive? San Angelo's Los Lonely Boys have made their own mark over the last decade with their muscular Texican blues-rock. The Garza brothers are a contemporary power trio, with Beatlesque harmonies, strong roots influences, and Henry Garza's ferocious guitar prowess, reflecting Hendrix, Carlos Santana, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. The Boys reportedly have been in the studio recording the follow-up to 2011's Rockpango.
