For the past 17 years, Loring Park Art Festival has shared the weekend with Powderhorn and Uptown Art fests. This year, however, they’ll be celebrating art in the park a week earlier. There will still be plenty to see and do, however, as over 140 creatives will be exhibiting and selling their works at this juried festival. Shop for handmade jewelry, peruse photography collections, chat with a painter, and enjoy other pieces on display. Some artists will be painting works inspired by the neighborhood live this weekend. Sign up at the Wine and Canvas booth to create your own work, or simply be a muse and pose for others. Fun for kids includes a piano painting session, performances from Open Eye Figure Theater, and a take-home art activity hosted by Mia. Food booths, roving musicians, and dance troupes round out the event. For more info, visit

The Festival consists of 140 visual artists displaying their original work in 12x12 booths, strolling musicians, scheduled stage performances, children's activities and food booths. The art work presented will be from a variety of media including painting, photography, printmaking, handmade paper, wood, jewelry, clay, sculpture, fiber, mixed media and glass. Within these categories will be a variety of styles from traditional to abstract in a variety of price ranges with the goal being "something for everyone."

Loring Park, with its beautiful ponds and formal gardens, makes an idyllic setting for art and music and the Loring Park Art Festival offers the greater metropolitan community an opportunity to enjoy this oasis just west of downtown Minneapolis.
