No one has cemented their place in roasting history more than Lisa Lampanelli. “Roasting is an art form that will never die,” says Lampanelli, who is preparing for a stop in Minneapolis this Saturday. “But the roasts you see now on TV, or that show on Comedy Central [Roast Battle], that’s just a means to an end. It’s a great way for up-and-coming comedians to get a credit and find some exposure and I think that’s great.” Lampanelli is a hall of fame-level roaster, having spent her career decimating her fellow comedians, as well as some of Hollywood’s biggest A-Listers, including our current president. “I’ve roasted him twice already,” she says of Trump, whom she has worked alongside as a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice. “I have a whole new roast I do in my set. It would be a sin not to.” When she’s not verbally crushing her friends and audiences, Lampanelli has also become accomplished on a different type of stage: Her play, Fat Girls, Interrupted, has allowed her to tackle issues such as weight, body image, and food from the perspective of four very different women. But just because she’s finding new ways to touch people doesn’t mean she’s not her same brutally funny self. “You don’t have to crap on your old dream to have a new dream,” she says. “I didn’t get into comedy for any reason other than doing comedy, and it’s still the thing I love most.” 18+.
PROMOTIONAL EVENT DESCRIPTION Lisa Lampanelli – February 18th, 2017 at Skyway Theatre
Lisa Lampanelli is Comedy's Lovable Queen of Mean. Heralded as "more than a standup -- a standout,” by comedy legend Jim Carrey, Lampanelli is a cross between Don Rickles, Archie Bunker, and a vial of estrogen. She has won accolades from The King of All Media Howard Stern, who called her "a true original and a brilliant comedy mind who'll steal the show every time." Known for saying things that most people are afraid to think, Lisa Lampanelli's raunchy, gut-busting performances are wildly popular at theaters across the U.S. and Canada. This equal opportunity offender is a regular on late night television, and a frequent guest and guest host on Howard Stern's Sirius XM satellite radio shows.
Check out her hilarious, recent interview on the 93X “Half-Assed” Morning Show on Jan 19th.
