Larry Coryell Power Trio
Guitar virtuoso Larry Coryell established his reputation in the late '60s and '70s as a ferocious pioneer of jazz-rock fusion, using his already monster technique to carve out scintillating electric realms somewhere between bop and psychedelia, sprinkled with blues and country. Four decades and some 80 albums later, Coryell has covered an astounding array of territory, an eclectic journey that's roamed from acoustic picking to Indian ragas to Stravinsky to Brazil and most spots in between. Now Coryell's back with his periodic colleagues in the Power Trio, bassist Larry Gray and drummer Paul Wertico. They should mine a rich jazz vein that may flirt with avant-garde, touch on the Beatles, and be laced with samba.
