It's hard to believe that it's only been a year since the Dayton brothers blessed us with their Scandinavian vision. The Bachelor Farmer has had all sorts of influence on the Minneapolis culinary scene, from the way we think about cocktails to our expectations of toast delivery. Their first year has been filled with an avalanche of affection, including star-heavy reviews, hard-to-get reservations, national attention, and even a visit from President Obama. Now, it's time for them to share the love. This Saturday, the restaurant and the downstairs lounge, Marvel Bar, are moving operations outside for an old-fashioned Kräftskiva. What's a Kräftskiva, you say? Well, it's only the best crayfish party you would ever want to attend. A traditional Nordic festival, which originated in Sweden, Kräftskiva parties gather friends and family in August to celebrate the beginning of crayfish season. There is no doubt that Chef Paul Berglund will elevate the little crustaceans from mud bugs to mini-lobsters. Other menu favorites will be served too, including their famed meatballs. Expect ice-cold Aquavit from Pip Hanson and the other bar masters from Marvel, as well as brews from Fulton. Second Avenue will be shut down from Azine Way to First Street North for the event so revelers can freely wander the block and take in some of the live music from Halloween, Alaska; DJ Jonathan Ackerman; Switzerlind; and City on the Make. Best of all, entrance to the event is free.
Sat., Aug. 4, 5-10 p.m., 2012
