K.P. Anderson

A lot of funny people seem to come from the Twin Cities, including K.P. Anderson. He started in standup while still at Hamline and today is executive producer of The Soup on E! and The Dish on Style Network. Once in a while, like this week, he'll return to his standup roots. "There is something really nice about getting on a stage," he says. "Being a writer, director, producer, and performer, the only approval I seek is that of the audience. You realize, 'Oh yeah, I'm funny without a lot of help.'" Anderson isn't quite sure why Minnesota seems to produce such a great amount of high-quality comedy and music. "Part of it, I think, is because it's so cold," he explains. "It's such a big cryogenic experiment, you either freeze in place or you snap. Those of us who snap wind up writing jokes or doing music and stuff like that." Those who feel they may have snapped, and think they would like to work in Hollywood, are invited to attend a unique discussion on how to succeed in the television industry. The 90-minute seminar takes place at Acme at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 20. 18+.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 & 10:30 p.m. Starts: June 19. Continues through June 20, 2009
