King Mini's Canyon Land
Where exactly is Canyon Land located? Judging by this upcoming show featuring work by print artist King Mini, it's somewhere between nature and technology. In the prints we previewed, a robot walks through what was once a forest, but is now a quarry of rocks and chopped-down trees. Is it post-apocalyptic or a commentary on our current environment? Is it a statement that technology and nature cannot coexist? Or that perhaps we will thrive despite our destructive habits? We're not quite sure, but we do find these recent, sparsely colored works on paper and wood panel to be intriguing. Pink Hobo Geek Art Gallery opens its doors this Saturday with an evening reception featuring live music—created specifically in reaction to the show—from ex-Los Marauder guitarist Chris Thompson.
