Kill Kancer Benefit
An eclectic, essentially all-star array of local musicians, plus the fabled "special guests," will gather at the Cedar for this benefit to support Kill Kancer, a nonprofit cancer-fighting organization founded by Mary Beth Mueller, wife of Soul Asylum bassist Karl Mueller. Although Karl lost his battle with esophageal cancer, his memory has spurred continuing efforts to combat the disease and promote healthy lifestyles, now coming together as KK. Announced performers will include Soul Asylum's Dave Pirner (pictured), the alt-country band Silverback Colony, indie Americana outfit Communist Daughter, country-tinged folk-rockers Taj Raj, and West Bank blues/R&B icon Willie Murphy.
