Swedish singer-songwriter Jose Gonzalez first gained international attention by stunningly retrofitting the Knife's electro-pop song "Heartbeats" into a hypnotic and naked acoustic number back in 2006. In the years since he's used Junip, the trio he now fronts, to explore machine-driven textures and rhythms in his own compositions. The group's mesmerizing self-titled sophomore album shows equal appreciation for electronic and acoustic textures serving up 10 folk-inflected chill-out tunes seemingly tailor-made for hipster coffee houses.
