Dangerous Productions' Jungle2Jungle uses acrobatic street games to tell the story of the Karen people of Burma. The cast consists of a group of refugees-turned-students who have relocated to the Twin Cities, some as few as four months ago. For the performance, the cast trained with Fight or Flight, a gym that specializes in parkour and martial arts. There, they learned to flip, vault, roll, and climb. The show is more than just sheer spectacle, though. "We've based the games off of stories, characters, and scenarios from their real-life journey here," says Tyler Olsen, artistic leader of Dangerous Productions. "There are armies, policemen, allies, UN officers — all people and situations that they experienced while coming to start a new life in Minnesota." Folks who take in the show are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.
Fridays, Saturdays, 7 p.m. Starts: May 23. Continues through May 24, 2014
