Jon Ferguson Theater & Ktron: George Orwell's Animal Farm
Director Jon Ferguson has mad skills when it comes to finding the unexpected in familiar stories. His latest endeavor involves George Orwell's classic novel about power and politics and, needless to say, the timing couldn't be better. Ferguson's past efforts have dealt with timely, and timeless, subjects as well (the war in Iraq, a reworking of Moby-Dick) but it will be particularly interesting to see how this work, created with Ktron, plays out against the real-time election cycle and the class clashes wrought by our ongoing post bail-out hangover. Who do the pigs, dogs, horses, and other barnyard denizens remind you of? As always, the cast will feature some of the Twin Cities' finest multidisciplinary performers, all primed for this adaptation by Ian Woolridge.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 7 p.m.; Thursdays, 7:30 p.m. Starts: Oct. 31. Continues through Nov. 13, 2008
