English indie-folk rocker Johnny Flynn is back for a rare solo show without his backing band, the Sussex Wit. The classically trained singer-songwriter is touring in support of his new album, Country Mile, a retro-styled roots record that finds Flynn refining the wistful, lyric-driven nu-folk that led onetime tourmates Mumford & Sons and Laura Marling to worldwide acclaim. While Flynn's level of popularity keeps him slightly under the radar in the U.S., his poignant songs have a vulnerable, understated charm. His plaintive material and distinctive musical talents should shine in a solo setting, as will Flynn's typically affable stage demeanor. Emerging London folk quintet the Melodic will open.
