John Kilduff: Let's Paint TV
There's Attention Deficit Disorder, and then there's Los Angeles-based artist John Kilduff, a frenetic painter and host of the cable access show Let's Paint TV. It seems that doing one thing at a time is never enough for Kildruff. His show, a version of which he'll perform at the Denler Gallery, features him painting, exercising, and cooking simultaneously. The result is a low-budget, inspirational mishmash that's impossible to not enjoy. On a recent episode (all of which are available on his YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/user/letspainttv), he jogged on a treadmill, painted a portrait, and gave himself a haircut all at the same time, while exclaiming things like, "All right, guys, we're up to five miles per hour!" and "Guys, it's not hard to cut your own hair, don't give up!" Beats the hell out of Sweatin' to the Oldies. In addition to the performance, Kilduff's paintings will be on display at the Northwestern College space afterward. The opening reception features a live performance in which he is set to create art, prepare food, exercise, and answer audience questions from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 27.
