This is one of only four solo acoustic shows Joe Henry is doing on an abbreviated tour, inspired by a July L.A. set that was his first solo performance in 25 years. That, he has said, was "motivated neither by necessity nor threat of violence" but "purely of my own stubborn desire." Henry is renowned as a savvy Grammy-winning producer, working with such artists as Solomon Burke, Allen Toussaint, Rodney Crowell, Bonnie Raitt, and Meshell Ndegeocello. He's also released a dozen impressive albums of his own, featuring his distinctive, decades-defying synthesis of American music — blues, country, jazz, gospel, rock, and the stuff in between — along with mercurial, enigmatic lyrics. He'll play songs from throughout his career, plus new material from a forthcoming album.
