Jimmy Pardo

"It's always nice to celebrate your birthday out of town away from your family," jokes Jimmy Pardo about his upcoming set of shows at Acme, "and feel as lonely as possible sitting in your hotel room contemplating what you're going to do with the rest of your life." His birthday is July 28, by the way. That scheduling mishap aside, things continue to go well for the L.A.-based funny man. His podcast Never Not Funny is still increasing in popularity, and his gig opening for Conan O'Brien on Conan has expanded into "The Pardo Patrol" on the show's website (teamcoco.com). In these bits, Pardo tracks down the show's guests and conducts mini-interviews in his own unique and quick-witted style. As if that weren't enough, he just completed a pilot for Comedy Central called Jimmy Pardo Needs Jokes, which is based on one of his live shows called The Writer's Room. "I think the pilot went great," he reports. "We did a really good project, everybody was funny, and we took an hour and 20-minute live show and edited down to a 22-minute TV show. I'm very proud of it." Being so busy in Los Angeles, he has had to cut back his road schedule more and more, meaning the shows here are a rare treat. But Pardo notes Acme is one of his favorite clubs, and he always looks forward to performing for comedy fans in the Twin Cities. 18+.
